Program Aim and Rationale

Master of Arts in Theology program responds to the urgent need for advanced theological training in Rwanda, and Africa. It equips church leaders and theological educators with postgraduate knowledge and skills for effective ministry, teaching, and leadership. The program emphasizes sound biblical interpretation and responsible theological reflection. It addresses the misuse of Scripture through strong training in biblical studies and hermeneutics. Additionally, it seeks to develop a new generation of African theologians and leaders. These graduates will contribute to both local and global theological conversations. They will also engage meaningfully with the unique challenges facing the African Church.

Admission Requirements

  • Have a bachelor's Degree from any accredited institution with a minimum cumulative grade of B or Second Upper Division, or Lower Division with two years of ministry work experience after the Bachelor Program or C in PGD
  • Demonstrate English Proficiency through an interview or pass the ACT English Proficiency Test.
  • Applicants with academic qualifications obtained outside Rwanda must submit notarized copies of equivalency documents issued by the Higher Education Council (HEC) through http://irembo.gov.rw/

Mode of Study

Programs are offered through flexible learning options:

  • Blended and Part-time learning opportunities (MATh, PGD, PGCC)
